  • WRITTEN FOR YOU BY THE DEVELOPERS OF SWITCHGAMESWe welcome your comments and participation!
    • SwitchGames on VentureBeat.com
Lead VentureBeat writer Dean Takahashi wrote a great piece on SwitchGames.com today. Dean exposed the fact that the SwitchGames community has amassed more that 100,000 games for trade in less than one year, which includes 43% of all current generation console games available on eBay. Go SwitchGames members! Woot woot. You can read the article by clicking here.

      UPDATE:
To eliminate any possible confusion about this article, in our press, we state that SwitchGames is the largest peer-to-peer video game trading community "SwitchGames.com announced today its members are offering more than 100,000 items up for trade, making it the largest peer-to-peer video game trading community ever created." SwitchGames is not claiming to be the largest used games market online - the eBay comparison made in the release explains that eBay is currently the clear leader in this area.

With the above said, this is a good opportunity to further clarify the fundamental differences of how SwitchGames and Goozex approach the used game market. Goozex is a fee based service, whereas SwitchGames is free peer to peer game trading community. SwitchGames has created a platform for gamers to decide game values on their own and conduct trades directly with one another for free. Goozex is based on game value system by which they determine the value of games and issue points for the game or require users to purchase points to conduct trades of equal point value. In addition, Goozex users are required to purchase trade tokens to conduct these transactions and can be left waiting in a queue for the game they want. SwitchGames members are not required to spend money and users do business in a peer to peer community - we offer up optional services that members can decide to enable should they want to make their transactions faster, safer, or easier.

The SwitchGames mission is about empowering gamers and giving consumers the power to take control and stop unfair brick and mortar trade in practices, which have taken advantage of gamers for years.

    • CLOSING A TRADEWe just made a big improvement to the SwitchGames trading platform based on member feedback. We listen very closely to what you want so if you haven't yet submitted any suggestions, complaints, etc. we strongly encourage you to do so.

      THE ISSUE:
As you may know, if either member involved in a trade has any outstanding items on their Transaction Checklist, a trade is considered "incomplete" or "in progress". Because of this, some members were ending up with trades in limbo, which effectively tied up the games in a transaction and filled their Live Transactions interface with lots of transactions that were irrelevant.

      THE SOLUTION:

      - When a trade remains incomplete for 14 days, you will now see a CLOSE THIS TRADE button present

      - Either member involved in the trade can begin closing the trade

      - Once closing begins, each user has 10 days to wrap up their tasks, including member rating (if not already done)

      - When a trade remains incomplete for 30 days, SwitchGames automatically begins the trade closing process

      - Once a trade begins the closing process, any of your items that were involved in the transaction can be re-listed in your My Stuff

Please let us know what you think and report any issues you might find!
